Atlético Ottawa Blanked in Winnipeg

Valour FC of Winnipeg remained perfect with their third win of the soccer season in as many games, beating Atlético Ottawa 2-0 in the rain at Winnipeg’s IG Field Saturday night.

The loss drops Ottawa to a won-tie-loss record 1-0-2, putting them in sixth place in the eight-team Canadian Premier League standings.

Ottawa looked like they went ahead in the first half. Ben McKendry headed a cross back across the goal, and Keesan Ferdinand volleyed it in. However, the goal was disallowed as a foul was called against Ottawa on the play.

Late in the first half, Winnipeg scored as Raphael Ohin drilled a shot past Ottawa keeper Dylon Powley. Valour added a second goal late in the game when Moses Dyer converted a penalty.

Atlético Ottawa is in action again at IG Field in Winnipeg Wednesday as they take on Pacific FC of Vancouver Island. Kick-off time is 7 p.m. EDT.
